Happiness is a grandchild! As our children get older and start settling down, face it, we think baby booties! What could be a more amazing experience then spending time with your child's child? Does what we envision work out better if it happens to be our daughter's baby?
You hear paternal grandparents often feel they are the "back-up" grandparents. They have to be careful about what they can and cannot do with their grandkids. They especially do not want to overstep their limits when it comes to their daughter-in-law. Sitcoms still constantly uses this as fodder and it's 2018!
Researchers exploring family connections actually discovered a "matrilineal advantage" does exist. Therefore, daughters typically have a closer relationship with their own parents. Naturally, that would mean a warmer relationship between their children and maternal grandparents.
