The Rotary Club of Rye has announced its new slate of officers for the 2022-2023 year. Michele Thomas of Osborn Home Care was installed as the new president on June 29, 2022 in a ceremony at Wainwright House overlooking the Long Island Sound. This year marks the 60th year since the club was founded in Rye. With support from the community, the Rotary Club of Rye, hopes to continue its longstanding tradition of service within the Rye Community and beyond.
Michele Thomas has been a Rotary member for the past three years and has most recently served as Vice President of the Club. In addition to her work with the Rotary, she is a tireless community volunteer, having recently served as President of SPRYE and continues to serve on The Rye City Senior Advisory Committee. According to Ms. Thomas, “This year’s Rotary International theme is Imagine, and I can’t help but be excited about all the opportunities available to us to help our community when we expand our thoughts and imagine new possibilities.” She is joined by a full slate of officers who were also inducted at the ceremony.
They include Lauren Torres as President Elect, Cathy DeMartino as Vice President, Cathy Garr as Secretary and Bob Manheimer as Treasurer. In addition, Melanie Ciraco, Richard Flahive, Jon Gluck and Richard Sgaglio were sworn in as Directors of the Club for 2022-2023.
The Rye Rotary Club is one of approximately 32,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries. The Rye Rotary Club provides annual scholarships at Rye High School as well as other grants and awards throughout the community. Club members also roll up their sleeves and help out with local events and projects that help better the Rye community.
