The Osborn community gathered on December 5, 2015 to celebrate the visionary leadership and monumental accomplishments of its retiring CEO, Mark R. Zwerger, at a gala event aptly named, The Light Up The Sky Soirée. Over 200 people – residents, families, business partners, neighbors and friends – came together for cocktails, dinner, dancing and multiple tributes to Mr. Zwerger. His 27-year tenure brought about a dramatic turnaround for the venerable institution in the 1990s and led to an extensive expansion turning it into a 21st century leader, providing the highest levels of care for elders.
To commemorate these accomplishments, the landmark tower on The Osborn’s 56-acre Rye campus was renamed the Mark R. Zwerger tower and was bathed in colored lights visible from miles away.
The Soirée Gala included a silent auction and dinner dance. Proceeds raised will go to The Fund in Honor of Mark R. Zwerger. The Fund will enable The Osborn to continue his legacy programs, including: The Osborn Scholarship Fund, Employee Enrichment, Campus Beautification, Arts at The Osborn, Lifelong Learning, Technology Improvements, Dementia Care Services, and Clinical Care Resources. Mr. Zwerger will be succeeded by Matthew Anderson, a 17-year veteran of The Osborn who will assume the President and CEO role on January 16, 2016. The Osborn employs over 700 people and serves over 400 residents in Independent Living, Assisted Living, Long-term Care, Short-term and Outpatient Rehabilitation, Memory Care, as well as those living in Westchester and Fairfield Counties through Osborn Home Care.
