The Osborn’s H.O.P.E Center for Memory Care has been named Best Stand-Alone Memory Care Facility in the second annual Senior Housing Design Awards, it was announced today by Senior Housing News, the sponsor of the nationwide competition to recognize projects and companies that are improving the lives of seniors through innovative design. The Award will be presented at a special event to be held in Dallas in March.
The H.O.P.E. Center for Memory Care, located on The Osborn’s 56-acre campus in Rye, is designed for individuals who can perform most of their daily activities, but would benefit from professional care and support in a social, neighborhood-style setting. The 13-person community, opened in spring 2013, promotes independence and choice in a beautiful setting, enhanced by life-enriching services and amenities. In choosing the H.O.P.E Center for Memory Care, the five-person judging panel of leading architects and designers noted the Center’s cutting edge design, excellence and innovation in senior living.
The H.O.P.E. Center for memory care features private rooms with private baths, a community kitchen, a great room with fireplace and entertainment center, a creative arts center and a bright and airy sunroom. Just as they would at home, residents are able to choose their favorite activities, such as listening to music, creative arts, watching movies with friends, and walking in the extensive, beautiful Betty Neagle perennial garden. The innovative H.O.P.E. program (Home Environment, Optimism, Passion and Empathy) is staffed with professionals specially trained in Alzheimer’s and dementia care, ensuring the highest-quality personalized care that maximizes each person’s capabilities.
“The Osborn’s H.O.P.E. Center is the result of an extraordinary team of individuals and experts who first dreamed the concept, then took it from idea to reality,” noted Mark R. Zwerger, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Osborn.
“Our extraordinarily talented professionals and in-house project management team, together with our colleagues at the Alzheimer’s Resource Center of Connecticut and the wonderful design team of RLPS Architects, collaborated on an exceptional effort that incorporated the key ideas of some of the best and brightest in the field of dementia care,” he added. “This honor reinforces The Osborn’s 106-year-old legacy of providing superior care to exceed the needs and expectations of older adults.”
