One of the unique aspects of The Osborn is our Miriam Osborn Memorial Arboretum. It is the only private arboretum in Westchester County and has been recognized as a Level I Accreditation by the ArbNet Arboretum Accreditation Program. Spending time in nature is an important part of any wellness program, and our residents and staff benefit from our beautiful surroundings every day.
The Miriam Osborn Memorial Arboretum at a glance:
Care of the Arboretum is extensive and includes removal of trees that pose a risk to residents and the property. There is also ongoing pruning, disease control and fertilization. We label all the trees, update and share maps so our residents, staff and visitors can enjoy them. We also plant new trees to achieve balance and diversity of species. Throughout the year, we offer educational tours and programing.
In recent years, we have lost a number of trees that have been infected by disease. As a result, we are facing a significant challenge in maintaining our campus’s tree population. We thank our residents and the community who support the Arboretum on the beautiful Osborn campus for now and for those in the future to enjoy.
